Smooth & EZ Unlimited is hosting performing arts dance troupe auditions.  We seek experienced dancers for a minimum one year commitment. To start the audition process, review below Candidate Requirements.  If requirements are agreeable, complete the Audition Application below.  The audition process includes attending dance troupe rehearsals (on Monday evenings and Saturday afternoons) where, over a three month period, we mutually evaluate whether you are a good fit for the dance troupe.

The dance troupe is a unique way to elevate your dance skills by learning through repetition and ultimately performing choreographed routines for competitions and demonstrations. Each troupe member receives technique training specific for performance skills but also beneficial to dancer’s vocabulary, adaptability, agility, studiousness and stamina. In addition, the troupe is a great way to meet new people, create a community, travel together to dance events, and share overall passion for dance.

Candidates:

• have a passion for dance!
• have graduated from Smooth and EZ or a Smooth and EZ affiliate (includes completing full sessions of beginner and intermediate classes)
• are able to commit to dance troupe a minimum of one year 
• are proficient in technique and form (such as spotting, anchoring, controlled turns, posture)
• possess skills for partnering
• are respectful and able to work collaboratively with troupe members
• are able to travel to perform locally, nationwide, and internationally and participate in troupe activities.
• are strong and athletic; train full body for flexibility and strength  outside of troupe, to continually condition body for dance
• attend Saturday Turns and Spins Workshop at least once a month
• attend Saturday Advanced Hand Dance class weekly
• attend troupe rehearsals on Mondays (1.5 hours) and Saturdays (2 hours)
• pay annual dues of $240 
• are able to purchase troupe clothing, costumes, shoes, event tickets, event hotels rooms, extra training, etc.
• understand this is a highly selective troupe which requires dedication and work
• attend extracurricular workshops/classes to deepen their knowledge of dance overall - minimum 8 hours per year.

*Final performance roster subject to assessment from troupe leaders.

*Annual dues do not include additional costs such as costume, shoes, competition passes, extra training.

Q: How do I prepare?

A: Auditions are like a multi-month version of an intensive.  Come ready to learn, sweat and show us what you can do. 

Q: What should I bring? 

A: Get ready to dance!  Bring your dance shoes, some water, and a good attitude.

Q: Do I need to register?

A: Yes, we will send a Dance Troupe registration link for tracking attendance, assessing skill level throughout audition process, and providing rehearsal schedule/location. 

Q: When do I find out the results? 

A: We will inform you after the 3 month probationary period.
